The Design Problem
There is a significant amount of people in America, as well as those who reside in other countries, that are geographically illiterate. Many also are unaware of important past and present affairs.
The Objective
Create an educational app to promote learning about the geography of the world, global history, and current events.
Positioning Statement
Overwhere believes in the importance of being aware of our world. We want to provide a platform for those who are seeking a way to always growing their knowledge and engage with a community who want to stay informed.
General Research
“In the USA, a survey of the University of Miami, 30% of the students could not locate the Pacific Ocean on a world map. A recent survey of 5,000 high school students in eight major cities in the USA revealed 25% of the students in Dallas could not name the country that borders the USA on the south, 50% of the students of Hartford, Connecticut were unable to name three countries in Africa, and 45% of those in Baltimore could not shade in the area representing the USA on a map.”
Currently in the United States, only 20 states require a geography course for high school graduation.
Quizzing apps and websites to learn about countries exist, but none have reach success as other learning applications such as Duolingo and Trivia Crack.
